About Enigma 45
Enigma 45 is a library of short mysteries. Each one is a complete story, with its puzzle and its solution, written to be read in one sitting: somewhere between half an hour and a little over an hour.
Free, with no small print
There is no subscription, no free trial and no locked chapters. The whole text is on the page from the moment it opens. There is no sign-up either: we do not ask for an email, a name or a password.
What the site remembers — the chapter you were on, the text size, dark mode — is stored in your own browser and never leaves it.
Mysteries for one sitting
The stories are what is usually called the classic puzzle mystery: a closed setting, a handful of people, something that does not fit and someone who looks patiently. Each story sets up and solves its own case, so you can start with any of them.
If the detective interests you more than the crime, detective stories groups them by who solves each case.
In three languages
Every story is published in Spanish, Portuguese and English, and each version is prepared as a text in its own right, not run through machine translation. The language switcher at the top opens the same page in the other language.
